    When things go wrong at work, we’re here to help

    Whether you work to live or live to work, we’re here to minimise career disruption and stress.

    Personal funding options

    We understand that the ability to pay legal fees is a key concern for anyone needing to take legal advice. We will discuss the options available to you depending on your case. We pride ourselves on being entirely transparent regarding fees and will keep you informed every step of the way.

    The options that we will normally consider with you include:

    1. Paying our fees yourself. Sometimes we may be able to offer a fixed fee for a specific piece of work;
    2. The availability of legal expenses insurance. You may have such a policy in place already, sometimes without even realising it. If you do, you have the right to choose a solicitor to act for you;
    3. Assistance with fees or support from a trade union or other scheme connected with your employment;

    Some firms may be prepared to offer a no win, no fee agreement or a damages based agreement, where fees are payable only if the claim you make is successful. It is very rare for us to offer this kind of arrangement and before we can consider it, we would need to charge a fee to review your case. Unfortunately, only claims which are very strong and high value will meet the threshold for us to consider this type of arrangement.

    For some cases, legal aid may be available but this is not a service Porter Dodson offers. For more advice and information, you should visit the Gov.uk website.

    Of course, when trying to settle any claim, we will usually try to recover some or all of your legal fees from your employer. This is common with the likes of settlement agreements, for example.
