Porter Dodson’s Exeter Corporate Team proudly took part in the Exeter City Community Trust Supported Housing Big Sleep Out 2025 on Friday 14 March 2025 at St James Park, the home of Exeter City FC.

Corporate Commercial Partner David Culshaw, and Associate Solicitor Matthew Jackson, swapped the comfort of their beds for the freezing cold, hard ground, raising awareness and funds for those at risk of homelessness in Exeter.

The Big Sleep Out aimed to shine a light on the struggles faced by individuals experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping. As part of their commitment to the local community, Porter Dodson’s recently relocated Exeter office in Southernhay contributed to giving back to those in need.

David Culshaw, who leads Porter Dodson’s Exeter office, expressed the firm’s dedication to supporting vulnerable individuals:

“We believe in the power of community and the importance of supporting those facing hardship. Taking part in the Big Sleep Out was a small way for us to contribute to a much bigger issue, and we are grateful for all the support and donations received.”

Reflecting on the experience, David added:

“While one night out in the cold is nothing compared to the reality faced by those who experience homelessness, it gave us a really good reminder of the difficulties that a lot of people face every day of the week. We were really lucky to be in a safe enclosed environment, at a well organised event, which is a far more comfortable situation than a lot of people face.”

All funds raised from the event went directly towards Exeter City Community Trust’s Supported Housing Service, helping to provide shelter, support, and a brighter future for those in need. An incredible £737 was raised by David and Matt, with the total fundraising amount just over £4,270, with donations still welcome. Every contribution, no matter how small, continues to make a significant impact.
