I joined Porter Dodson in 2014, following my relocation to Somerset from the West Midlands. I worked in the Probate, Trusts and Tax Department at our Wellington office for three and a half years and then moved to our Taunton office to specialise in the administration of Trusts.
I provide advice to Trustees as to their duties and obligations regarding the Trust itself, its assets and beneficiaries. I advise as to the income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax implications throughout the duration of the Trust and upon cessation. I can assist Trustees with their reporting requirements including those under FATCA (the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) and CRS (Common Reporting Standard) so that the Trust is compliant.
I prepare and file tax returns, including online filing with HMRC. I also prepare annual Trust accounts, attend Trustee meetings, advise on and carry out changes to the appointment of Trustees as well as undertaking the general day to day Trust administration. Partners of the firm are often instructed to act as professional Trustees and my role also includes advising them in this capacity, as well as reporting to beneficiaries.
I am a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) having successfully completed the STEP Diploma in Trusts and Estates (England and Wales).
