Porter Dodson is boosting their offering in the Southwest Private Client sector by the appointment of Susannah Emson (formerly Bower) as a Partner specialising in inheritance tax planning, wills and trusts. Susannah has 17 years of experience providing specialist advice to high-net-worth individuals, farming clients and business owners on their estate planning and succession options.

Susannah will help to bolster Porter Dodson’s estate planning team in the Exeter, East Devon and Taunton areas. By working closely with Tom Mottram, this niche team will be in a position to provide clients with cohesive strategies to mitigate their exposure to inheritance tax and compliment other teams within the firm.

As an experienced solicitor, Susannah has spent her career helping hundreds of families navigate the complex area of tax planning whilst providing practical advice on an often emotionally charged subject.

Commenting on her new role, Susannah said “Inheritance tax is often described by HMRC as a ‘voluntary tax’ and given sufficient time and advice, many clients are able to significantly reduce their liability, whilst staying well within the letter of the law. I have always enjoyed solving puzzles and I often see my work now as an extension of my childhood hobby. I am excited to be joining Porter Dodson and expanding the services offered by the estate planning team to both new and existing clients.”

If you wish discuss any estate planning issues with Susannah, please get in touch on 01823 625854 or Susannah.emson@porterdodson.co.uk
