After a four‑year break, the Taunton Half Marathon made its long‑awaited return to the town centre yesterday, and Porter Dodson were incredibly proud to be at the heart of it as headline sponsors.
More than 2,000 runners took part in this year’s race, marking the 40th edition of the event and filling Taunton with a brilliant atmosphere from start to finish. With its scenic route and supportive crowds, the half marathon has always been a highlight of the local sporting calendar, and its comeback did not disappoint.
As a firm committed to investing in the people and communities we serve, supporting the return of this iconic event felt incredibly special. Our three‑year partnership with the new organising team, Active South West, is rooted in our shared belief in community spirit, wellbeing, and bringing people together.
The firm embraced the day with 20 runners from all offices, a dedicated team of volunteers staffing aid stations, and extensive supporter presence along the route and at the finish line.
In addition to competing, Porter Dodson runners collectively raised £950 for Stand Against Violence, one of our nominated offices charities for 2026. The team included both first‑time half marathon goers and experienced distance runners, all united in their commitment to support the event.
The overall race winner was Jamie Williamson, who crossed the finish line in an impressive 1:08:03 to secure the title. The finish along North Street, framed by the Market House, created a fantastic atmosphere for all runners completing their 13.1‑mile journey.
Yesterday’s event marks a significant milestone for Active South West, the new collaborative organising team comprising Dan Brice (Channel Events), Alex Bennett (Prosper Events), and Dave Urwin (Albion Running). Their shared vision of creating inclusive, uplifting community events was evident throughout a vibrant and well‑supported race day.
Kate James, Managing Partner at Porter Dodson, reflected on the success of the day,
“We are thrilled to have been part of the Taunton Half Marathon’s return. This event represents everything we value - community spirit, wellbeing, and coming together to achieve something meaningful. Seeing our runners, volunteers, and supporters out in force made the day incredibly special and we already looking forward to next year!”
