Money raised for Somerset Sight

    Money raised for Somerset Sight

Local charity, Somerset Sight, has been presented with a cheque by Porter Dodson's Taunton office.

Regular fundraising activities were held at the Taunton office, such as a boules tournament, bake sales, and Christmas jumper day, to raise money that was then match funded by the Partners to bring the total to £1,500.

Somerset Sight provides practical and emotional support to people who are losing or have lost their sight. They work closely with Musgrove Park Hospital to signpost people who have been recently diagnosed with a visual impairment. They offer a befriending service, counselling and everyday support to those and their families who are grieving the loss of their sight.

Holly Sutton, Fundraising & Development Officer of Somerset Sight, said: “We were thrilled to be chosen as Porter Dodson’s Charity of the Year and would like to thank them and everyone who supported their fundraising. £1,500 is a brilliant amount to raise and will go directly to helping more visually impaired people in Somerset.

Lesley Gaskell, Partner in Porter Dodson’s Taunton Office, commented: “Somerset Sight does a fantastic job of enabling those with limited or no vision to live a full and independent life. I’m delighted we’ve been able to raise this money to help them continue providing this much-needed support. I would like to thank everyone who took part in our fundraising activities and kindly donated over the year.
