Founders of the well-known South West based Moles Brewery, Black Rat and West Country Gold Cider brands have recently sold the company to Tolchards Ltd, drinks wholesalers based in Devon.
Wiltshire based Cascade Drinks has been purchased by Tolchards from the owners Laura and Roger Catte. Cascade was formed in 1978 and specialises as wholesalers in the drinks sector, founding and developing the Moles Brewery, Black Rat and West Country Gold brands since 1982.
Tolchards are a leading distributor of wine and beers with the Moles, Black Rat and West Country Gold brands fitting well into their growing portfolio and opening the door to some exciting export opportunities. The sale was handled by the Corporate Commercial team at Porter Dodson, led by Evelyn Adfield, with Tolchards represented by OTB Eveling.
“It was an interesting deal, requiring a fast turnaround from our team and a pragmatic approach on all sides to ensure the sale went through ahead of the traditional summer peak in the drinks industry,” explained Adfield.
Laura Catte added, “Evelyn and her team were recommended to us by clients of the Corporate team and we always felt she kept us informed and supported us through the sale process.”
Our Corporate Commercial team undertakes the formation, purchase and sale of businesses for clients across the South West. Contact them to discuss how they can help you and your business.
