Porter Dodson is pleased to announce its role in facilitating the successful purchase of The Mount Pleasant Inn, a much‑loved rural pub in Nomansland, near Tiverton.

Acting for the buyers, Stuart and Miranda Cole, the business purchase was led by Evelyn Adfield, Head of Corporate Commercial, supported by Solicitor Lily Adam, with Ben Hingley and Steve Farnham advising on Commercial Property aspects. Kate Shawcross and Abigail Askew also provided specialist advice on the employment matters required to complete the sale. Stuart Cole said, “The Porter Dodson team were pivotal throughout the transaction and their experience and knowledge was invaluable right through to completion”.

Commenting on the transaction, Evelyn Adfield said, “This was a fantastic opportunity to support local buyers in securing a well‑known community asset. Our team worked collaboratively across corporate, property and employment matters to support Stuart and Miranda in securing this important community asset. We look forward to seeing The Mount Pleasant Inn thrive under their ownership.”

The Cole family, who live locally in Nomansland, purchased the pub from its long-standing owners with an aspiration to revitalise it as a vibrant hub for the community.
