Kate James

I joined Porter Dodson in 2005 and was made a partner in February 2013. I specialise in private client matters, including Wills, probate, trusts and inheritance tax planning. I also deal with Court of Protection matters, intestacy and agricultural succession. I have a particular interest in dealing with agricultural and landed estates.

My experience allows me to guide clients through difficult periods in the lives, in particular, following bereavement or loss of capacity. I work closely with clients to ensure they are not intimidated by the process and to deal with matters as expeditiously and sensitively as possible.

I have strong local ties, having grown up in the area, giving me a better understanding of specific needs, particularly in the rural sector.

I am a member of the Society of Trusts & Estate Practitioners. I won the Cooks & Hatchard Law Prize, Devon & Somerset Law Society 2007.
