Chris Pemberton

My career began in private banking in Chester, where I specialised in setting up and administering all types of trusts. I joined Porter Dodson in June 2003 and became a partner in 2014.

I am fortunate to have gained broad experience in administering a variety of challenging and complex estates and trusts, including many with agricultural and landed estates, together with estates with an overseas element.

I also have wide experience of setting up trusts for family members with learning difficulties, and I am also responsible for drafting wills for those clients who are undergoing fertility and IVF treatment. My expertise also includes Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection applications.

My clients come from a variety of backgrounds and my experience has taught me to understand what they need and expect so that I am able to give them the very best service and practical, straightforward advice.

Working from Dorchester for many years has allowed me to develop strong and long-lasting relationships with all of my local clients and those who are based overseas. I have also frequently collaborated with key advisors on complex tax-related issues to achieve substantial tax savings for my clients, in particular, Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief from Inheritance Tax.

I am a Registered Trust & Estate Practitioner (TEP) with the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
