This weekend Stephen Wray, Partner and Head of Porter Dodson’s Taunton office, undertook the Somerset 3 Peaks challenge in order to raise funds for Taunton Round Table.
He visited the Somerset 3 Peaks of Burrow Mump, Glastonbury Tor and Brent Knoll under his own power, running 12 miles, cycling 45 miles and kayaking 13 miles, in addition to climbing each peak, starting and finishing in Taunton all in a day.
Prior to taking part, Stephen promised his Taunton Staff “If I raise over £250 I’ll buy you all a cake!”
The challenge took just under 12 hours to complete and the money raised will assist Round Table in taking disadvantaged children to Longleat in October.
Having taken on the challenge and beaten the peaks, Stephen quipped “the things I learnt this weekend are: Brent Knoll is a long way up; canoeing along the Bridgwater to Taunton canal is neither quick nor pleasurable; on the day after the event, don’t walk up and down between Lynton and Lynmouth. It hurts!”
None of this stopped Stephen taking his lunchtime run around Blackbrook Park and the surrounding neighbourhood!
To donate to the Round Table, please contact Stephen or his secretary.
