Based in Piddlehinton, Piddle Brewery produces a selection of bottled and cask beers and also some ciders. Look out for them at various events in Dorset..
When did you become a part of your business and why?
I became part of the business in October 2014... having worked in business banking for too many years to mention, I took the amazing opportunity to invest and rebuild the Piddle brand - developing and marketing new opportunities that could serve great products to great venues across Dorset.
What’s your favourite product and what makes you and your product special?
Sorry, I've got two! Firstly the Coal Porter, this one is full bodied with a coffee aroma and chocolate caramel notes. And secondly the Cocky IPA, it has a light hoppy flavour and goes really well with a gammon steak. Both of these are available all year round rather than seasonal, they are also versatile beers and can be infused or matched with different foods.
What is your relationship with Porter Dodson?
We make and supply our Coal Porter to them at Christmas time. They design a label and customise it to their branding; they call it the Porter Dodson Porter. Each year; there is a new label design so it’s interesting to see how the design changes over the years. Porter Dodson then gives the Porter out to their contacts as gifts.
Tell us about a notable challenge/success?
Installing our new bottling facility was a great success, it means we can produce and package our range on site. A challenge for us is trying to expand while we operate and meet growing demands - that's not easy!
What are your plans for the future?
Launching a new range of beers that can support investment in Dorset – this is very exciting but we've got to keep tight lipped at the moment!
What’s the best thing about living in Dorset?
The people of course, Dorset has such talent and a unique spirit that makes it a vibrant place to be and to work. Our tourist destinations aren't bad either.
Like many others, we are very proud of our Jurassic heritage coast and are delighted to be corporate partners of the Jurassic Coast Trust. During Jurassic January, we were lucky enough to meet up with Jon and Ian from Piddle at Bovington Tank Museum
