    Dorset Shellfish is a family run business based in Portland and owned by Caroline Dever. Whilst husband Graham and son Karl are out on their sailing boat, Marauder, Caroline and her daughter Stef are selling a variety of freshly caught shellfish at Dorset Farmers Markets and local events.

    I started the business about 10 years ago as a way of using my partners shellfish and selling it direct to the public. I joined the Dorset Farmer's Markets and am still trading with them now.

    What is your favourite product?

    The favourite product is the Handpicked White Crab Meat. It tastes so fresh, all handpicked and nothing added, caught sustainably from the sea.

    Is your business seasonal?

    The business isn't seasonal, we're open all year. The boys are able to fish all year, obviously the Winter is a bit more tricky due to the wind!!

    Tell us about a notable challenge/success

    No notable challenges, but we still have customers commenting that they didn't know crab meat tasted so good. We have won Taste of Dorset 2018, Great Taste Awards and Taste of the West Awards.

    What are your plans for the future?

    We have no immediate plans for the future however, this year as ever we are committed to providing quality products.

    What is the best thing about living in Dorset?

    Dorset for me and my family is just the best place to live, fabulous coastline and countryside, lovely weather and local people, and amazing Dorset Food.
