Porter Dodson, Symonds & Sampson, Handelsbanken and Albert Goodman set up the Young Rural Business Forum (YRBF) to support young people working in farming, agriculture, horticulture, diversification, food & drink or any other rurally based business. The group is backed by Kingston Maurward College.
Yesterday evening, the group met at Black Cow Vodka where they enjoyed a tour of the distillery with co-founder Jason Barber. Jason explained there is an excess of whey produced in the cheese making process.in the dairy industry. This under-valued by-product from Barbers Cheddar is distilled and turned into the superior premium vodka we know as Black Cow Vodka, the worlds smoothest vodka, made purely from milk.
Having had a lesson in distilling, attendees from a diverse range of rural businesses including thatchers, architects, metal fabrication and the Dorset County Show were invited to sample the vodka, served over ice, of course!
